With the TimeStatement tablet terminal, employees record arrival, departure and breaks on site – with a badge/chip or by selecting their name on the screen. This article summarizes the requirements, the setup and day-to-day use with badges.
Product overview: Time clock terminal.
What you need
- Location with a power outlet and stable Wi-Fi (entrance, reception, workshop, staff area).
- Hardware: a preconfigured TimeStatement industrial tablet including badges or your own Android tablet (with NFC for badges).
- Licenses: a valid TimeStatement license per person who checks in. For work time tracking only, the Starter version is sufficient.
- Terminal admin: a technical user for running the terminal (in addition to the regular user accounts).
The terminal is usually delivered preconfigured; TimeStatement typically charges one hour for the setup. You can find current prices on the terminal page or in your quote.
Get started in four steps
- Choose a location – clearly visible, with power and Wi-Fi within reach. Separate mounting instructions for the hardware aren't strictly necessary; what matters is power, Wi-Fi and a fixed, easy-to-reach spot.
- Set up the hardware – unpack and connect the TimeStatement tablet including badges, or prepare your own NFC-capable Android tablet.
- Prepare the software – create users, enable work time tracking under Management → Settings → Features and check the licenses. Have the terminal admin user ready.
- Set up terminal mode – assign badges to the user accounts or enable user selection on the display. Follow the quick guide included with the terminal or the terminal app manual.
Badge mode vs. user selection
With a badge (NFC)
Each employee is assigned a badge or key fob. To check in or out, the person briefly holds the badge to the terminal – without pressing any extra button. TimeStatement automatically books the arrival or departure (or the next logical booking, including breaks, depending on the configuration).
Without a badge
Employees select their name on the display. This is suitable if you don't use NFC or use a tablet without NFC.
Switching from cards to key fob badges (or vice versa) is possible; the scope of delivery and the exchange are arranged with TimeStatement.
Day-to-day use at the terminal
- Bookings are synchronized to the cloud time tracking in real time.
- Supervisors see attendance and balances in the browser; employees can also check their data in the web or mobile app.
- The terminal, web and app can be used in parallel.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to tap something on the screen before using the badge?
No. In badge mode, holding the badge to the terminal is enough – the booking is made automatically.
Why do I need a terminal admin?
It's a technical user for running the terminal app continuously. It counts as an additional license alongside the regular employees.
Which license version?
For work time (arrival/departure/break), Starter is sufficient. Project time, expenses and advanced features require TimeStatement Pro.
Own hardware?
Possible with an Android tablet. NFC must be available for badges; for continuous operation, suitable charging is recommended (ideally permanently powered).
