TimeStatement has two kinds of permissions: global user roles at account or system level, and project roles and permissions within individual projects.
Global user roles explained
The following user roles are available at account level:
Standard user
Standard users only see their own recorded times, activities and expenses.
User with extended permissions
A user with extended permissions gets additional permissions that can be enabled individually.
Depending on what is enabled, this user can, for example:
- create projects
- manage tasks
- manage clients
- view all reports
- manage invoices
Even if a user with extended permissions is given all available permissions, an admin still has broader rights.
This role is used to extend the permissions of a standard user and is an intermediate level between a standard user and an admin.
Admin
You can appoint several administrators in TimeStatement.
Users with the Admin role have full access to the account and can manage and edit all areas, including users, settings, clients, projects, invoices and reports.
An admin has more rights than a user with extended permissions.
Assigning a global user role
To assign a role to a user:
- Open Management > Users.
- Click the user.
- In the "Role" field, select the user role you want.
- Save the changes.
Project roles explained
In addition to the global user roles, individual permissions can be granted within a project.
The following roles and permissions are available per project:
Project Leader
A project leader can:
- view all activities recorded by the project members
- view the related hourly rates
- view reports and budgets
- manage and edit the project
Project Member
Individual permissions can be granted to project members, for example:
- Can see entries of other users
- See hourly rates
Without these additional permissions, the project member can only record their own project time and expenses and view their own entries in the project report.
Assigning project roles
- Open Projects.
- Select the project.
- Open the "Members" area.
- Click the member and grant the appropriate permissions.
- Save the changes.
Note: If you want to use the same permissions for future projects, we recommend setting them once in a sample project.
You can then clone this sample project for new projects or use it as a template. The permissions you set are applied automatically, so you don't have to set them up manually again.
