I need a field that TimeStatement doesn't have – what can I do?
Create your own field. Under "Custom Attributes" you can add extra fields to projects, clients, tasks, time entries and other areas for information that the standard fields don't cover.
For each additional field you choose a suitable field type: text fields, dropdown lists, checkboxes, radio buttons, numbers or date.
Create a custom field
- Open "Management" > "Settings" > "Custom Attributes".
The list shows all existing fields with "Entity", "Name", "Display Name" and "Priority". - Click "Create Custom Attribute".
- Fill in the form:
- Entity: Choose what the field applies to: "Timesheet", "Expense", "Project", "Task", "Work time", "Client", "User", "Provider" or "Company".
- Name: the technical name of the field, for example in lowercase without spaces. The name is required and must start with a letter.
- Display Name: the label your users see next to the field. The display name is required.
- Type: the kind of input (see Field types).
- Values: only appears for types with a choice, for example "Selection (Dropdown)". Enter the possible values here, one value per line.
- Priority: a number, 0 by default. You can leave it at 0.
- Click "Save".
"Save" is only active once all required fields are filled in correctly. The new field then appears in the list of custom attributes.
Field types
In the "Type" field you define what your users enter:
- Single-Line Text: short text on one line
- Multi-Line Text: longer text over several lines
- Selection (Dropdown): one value chosen from a list
- Single Checkbox: a tick or no tick (yes/no)
- Multiple Checkboxes: several values ticked from a list
- Single choice (Radio buttons): exactly one value chosen from several visible options
- Number (Integer): whole number
- Number (Decimal): number with decimal places
- Date: date picker
Example: "Industry" dropdown for clients
To create a field for selecting the industry of each client:
- Open "Management" > "Settings" > "Custom Attributes" and click "Create Custom Attribute".
- Under "Entity", select "Client".
- Under "Name", enter
branche, and under "Display Name", enter "Industry". - Under "Type", select "Selection (Dropdown)".
- Under "Values", enter "Construction", "Retail" and "Services", one below the other.
- Click "Save".
Use a custom field
The new field appears in the form of the selected entity. In the example:
- Open "Clients" and select the client, for example "Demo Client Inc.".
- On the "Client" tab, you find the "Industry" field at the bottom of the form, below "Remark".
- Choose a value, for example "Services", and click "Save".
